Our Story

How Cait & Chris Met

Caitlin and Chris met online in 2012, and they talked online for a few months.  One day, Chris messaged Caitlin to let her know that he was taking a break from online dating and that he would be taking his profile off of the website.  He left his phone number in case Caitlin was still interested in talking.  Caitlin was a little hesitant at first, since in the past she had too much “stranger danger” to ever to agree to meet a guy that she had met online in person, but she felt that there was something different about Chris!  After a some planning, the pair came up with an idea for a first date that was agreeable to both parties.

Our First Date

The couple met for the first time in person at Crazy Mocha in Sewickley on Cinco de Mayo in 2012.  Chris arrived first, and Caitlin could see him through the glass door as she approached the shop.  She was a tad disappointed that he had gotten there first, because she really had to use the bathroom (awkward)!  She swung the door open and their eyes locked. (Caitlin always remarks how Chris’s stunning blue eyes knocked the breath right out of her!) After ordering smoothies and a potty break for Caitlin (the first of the many bathroom emergencies Chris has had to endure in their relationship), they went outside and drank their smoothies and talked comfortably like they had known each other forever.

From there the couple hopped in the car and drove to Old Economy Village in Ambridge.  They spent the afternoon touring the historic village and learning about the Harmonists who had lived there.  (Chris kept sneaking glances at Caitlin who was wearing a purple dress, silver shoes and a denim jacket.)  After the tour, the couple sat under a trelis in the garden and talked for awhile.

On the way back to the car, Caitlin mentioned she was planning on going to church at St. James.  Chris volunteered to go with her.  To this, Caitlin remarked, “You know you will have to meet my mom…” Chris was fine with meeting her mom, and Caitlin can still remember seeing the look on her mom’s face when she saw her sitting in the back of the church with this handsome guy.

After church, not wanting the date to be over, Chris suggested they find a place to eat.  The couple went to Eat N’ Park for “brinner”.  Caitlin always remarks how they had the perfect “old people’s date”, and she laughed when she saw a lot of the elderly people they had seen at mass at Eat N’ Park as well.

After dinner they went their separate ways, but when Caitlin arrived at her parents to pick up her dog, Heartbreaker, she realized that Chris had forgotten his camera in the back seat of her car!  Chris ran over to Caitlin’s apartment to pick up his camera that evening. Caitlin scooped up Heartbreaker before opening the door, and Chris always remarks how he remembers hugging Caitlin and “the pooch” that night.
